[-vɛi̯], Herman, eigentlich H. Portaas ['purtoːs], norwegischer Schriftsteller, * Nedre Eiker (bei Drammen) 20. 7. 1886, ✝ Larvik 27. 9. 1959; wurde v. a. von E. A. Karlfeldt und H. Heine beeinflusst und gilt mit seinen bevorzugt melodischen Versen als einer der bedeutendsten norwegischen Lyriker des 20. Jahrhunderts; Lebensbejahung und Freude am Dasein stehen neben tiefer Schwermut und religiöser Innerlichkeit; schrieb außerdem Dramen und Memoiren (»Vingehesten og verden«, 1937; deutsch »Mein Pegasus und die Welt«; »En lykkelig tid«, 1940).
